New! New! New!Baby Lapsit Program
(for children one year or younger)
Using books, pictures, rhymes, songs, movement and activities, the parent/caregiver, under the direction of the Children’s Librarian, will nurture their baby’s development and growth. Each program will end with time for parent chat and child play.
All you need to bring is your lap, your baby & a blanket or mat.This is a special program, requiring undivided attention between the participating babies and adults.
This program is held on Fridays at 2pm
Pre-School Storytimes “ Shake Rattle and Read”
Children ages 3-5 are invited to attend this hour long storytime, featuring read-alouds, circle time stories and songs, musical instrument play-alongs and creative literacy activities. Storytimes are held Tuesdays from 1-2pm and Fridays 10:30-11:30am.
‘Winter’ Book Buddies
A multi-age reading club where "Little" and "Big" readers share new books, stories, crafts and friendships. Register your little reader (ages 3-6) or big reader (ages 7-teens) for this program held on Wednesdays at 4pm
Creative Kids Club
Children in grades 1-5 are invited to join in a monthly club focusing on creative art projects, meeting the 3rd Monday of each month at 6pm. Explore your self and inner artist, using acrylic, oil and water color paints on the January 25th program “Self Portrait in Paint”. Explore the process writing technique and draft your story, while uncovering your life story in the Feb. 22nd workshop."Write-Your-Autobiography", followed by "Publish Your Autobiography" on March 15th. Rants and Reviews Kids’ Book Club
Children grades 3-5 are invited to participate in “Chat-A-Book” sharing sessions and review, read and vote for the Rhode Island Children’s Book Award 2010. We will meet the first Monday of the month at 6 pm. The next meeting is Monday, January 4th. Please call to register.
GML Tween and Teen Consultants
We are looking for teens and tweens to expand and improve a variety of youth services at the Glocester Manton Library. Your ideas and creativity might be just what your library needs. You will be asked to recommend books for purchase and to develop programs for your age group. We will meet the first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm . Please call to register.
